Dear Primary School Parents,
Here is what we love about the month of October!
The first and foremost thing we love about the month of October is the sheer beauty that the seasonal change brings. It is officially autumn and with that comes spectacular colors as the leaves turn to red, yellow, and orange. We are very fortunate to have a playground that is adorned with beautiful trees, which come into their full glory during the month of October. The slightly cooler air is crisp and fresh, and the children just love to run around, climb, hang out, slide, and simply enjoy being outdoors, while also bringing nature indoors as they happily collect autumn leaves and acorns for art and science lessons.
The second thing we love about October are the traditions that are connected to this time of year. Halloween has become a tradition that we have embraced at ISF, which we celebrate on a large scale. The best thing about traditions is that they bring people together, they add a sense of novelty and fun to the daily schedule, and they provide children with motivation and encouragement to get involved and contribute. It is great to feel the “buzz in the air” as the children and teachers together excitedly decorate their classroom doors and pin boards with Halloween and autumn themes. It is sheer pleasure to witness students with a spark in their eyes as they contribute to decorating the school or taking part in the pumpkin carving competition. As icing on the cake, the Primary Halloween Party sponsored and supported by the PN has become an event that brings the community together on campus, as parent volunteers join the teachers and students for a big spooky bash!
Finally, the third thing that is special about October is the Fall Break/Herbstferien! After the hard work, concentration, transitioning, and processing that the start of the new academic year brings in September, it is always a little blessing to have a change of pace — to have the opportunity to pause, slow down, and enjoy time off. And these are the main reasons why we love the month of October!
Kind regards,
