Event Highlights
     Eater Egg Hunt

On the 21st of March, Term 3 started with a successful annual Easter Egg Hunt. The event, organized by our Parent Network, received support from our School Director, KG, and Primary coordinators, as well as our SLO students. Witnessing the lower-grade students laughing and having fun together was truly heartwarming. We are immensely grateful to our Parent Network and all those who contributed. Cheers to an amazing Term 3 ahead!

     Debate Team

Our Senior Debate Team traveled to Würzburg to compete in the final rounds of competition for the 2023/24 Season. The Team performed exceptionally well, making it through to the Octofinals (Top 16 - 36 Teams were competing).

ISF finished the season with five wins from eight rounds of competition, which is a testament to the student's hard work and determination.

Especially impressive, during this final weekend of competition, was the team's win on Saturday afternoon. Upon entering the debate room, they discovered there had been a last-minute change to the draw which we had been unaware of, and that they were supporting, not opposing the motion that they had just spent one hour preparing for. With only five minutes of preparation time, they put together an excellent case, and all spoke for the full speaking time of 8 minutes each. This showed exceptional skill and teamwork.

Please congratulate Sofia Oural Martinez (Captain), Aaryan Kandala, Tripti Rai, Anushree Goyal, and Vicente Ausmann on their excellent achievement; their performances were outstanding.

The team would like to thank everyone who has supported them this year, with special mentions to Mr. Cox, Ms. Hannon, and Ms. Lothian. Without your support, ISF's participation and success would not have been possible.

We are looking forward to continuing ISF's success in the 2024/25 Season.

     U14 Basketball GISST

The GISST U14 Basketball Tournament brought a vibrant atmosphere to our school, transforming our gymnasium into a place of exhilaration, camaraderie, and impressive basketball skills. It encompassed far more than just the sport itself; it encompassed laughter, celebratory gestures, and the forging of friendships with individuals from all corners of Germany. We extend our gratitude to each player for their unwavering dedication and determination. Furthermore, we applaud the coaches, organizers, and families who provided us with their unwavering support.

     GISST Performance

It´s been a busy but exciting week for the ISF dance teams! The Cheerleaders, Ballerinas, Street Dancers, and K-Pop have been practicing every lunch for their big GISST opening ceremony, and it paid off!! Well done dancers, you were all amazing and we are so proud of you.

     SLO® Skating Evening

Our SLO® activities department came through with a brilliant idea just when we needed it most - organizing an ice skating night for our middle schoolers! This event, right before the hectic Term 2 finals, provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and unwind. From beginners to experienced ones, was truly enjoyable. A few falls occurred (all taken in good humor), and encouragement was abundant as everyone attempted to stay balanced or showcase their skills. Additionally, it served as a great way to release any pent-up stress before the final stretch of the term. We eagerly anticipate the future initiatives from our SLO® team, as they consistently bring excitement to our community events.

     Term 2 Awards

Just before the break, our Primary intensive class and middle school recognized individual accomplishments by presenting awards for "Best In" and "Most Improved" in each subject. We are extremely pleased with the hard work and advancement of our students! Congratulations to all the recipients! It is a truly gratifying experience to see the excitement and joy on the faces of those on stage. We are proud of every one of you.

    SABIS® STARS

Six talented students from Grades 6 to 11 are getting ready to showcase their skills in the SABIS® Stars competition. They will be participating in various categories such as the Science Fair, Creative Writing, Painting, and "Our World and Our Concern." Their departure is scheduled for April 18th, and we couldn't be prouder of them. These students truly embody the spirit of curiosity, creativity, and global awareness that our school values. As they prepare for this incredible opportunity, we are fully supportive and cheering them on every step of the way. SABIS® Stars is not just a competition; it is an opportunity for personal growth, learning, and creating lasting memories. May this journey be as rewarding as it is successful. We wish our shining stars the best of luck and eagerly await to watch the live stream of the final competition.

    News from Music Department

Toward the beginning of the month, we made decisions on what pieces we would perform for the summer concert. Before the break, Students in grades 1 and 2 took time to examine different performances and activities that relate to Vivaldi’s composition Spring. Grades 3 and 4 have continued learning and developing their skills in playing and moving between new and established chords on the ukulele. The Summer Concert will be on June 5 with grades 1 and 2 performing at 14:00 and grades 3 and 4 at 15:00. We hope to see you all in the Theater if you are available!

In grades 5-9 Music, March was focused mainly on Final exams and projects. In Strings, students did performance assessments with rubrics. The rubrics give students a chance to think about how they perform music and how it conforms to these assessment values. These performance qualities come from how they practice, so it was a great vehicle to encourage the students to consider their everyday classroom habits. The choir worked on different aspects of analysis and theory. These strong and developing fundamentals continue to give them more tools to understand what they do and further express themselves.  Music Production classes have been busy developing students’ understanding of the instruments of the orchestra. This involved identifying their sounds, relationships to each other, and frequent uses. The Middle School Concerts will be during the week of 10 June 3-6 at 4:30 p.m. The Strings will perform on Monday. The Choir will perform on Tuesday. Music Production will perform on Thursday. We hope to see you all in the Theater if you are available.
