Dear ISF Community,
I hope you are all enjoying the autumn season and taking the opportunity to appreciate the fall colors and changing weather.
I was so pleased to see so many of you at the school’s International Day last weekend. It is one of my favorite events at the school because it gives us the opportunity to really celebrate our diversity as a community. From the parade of flags and national dress to focus country rooms and the performances in
On November 2nd, our school came alive with the sights, sounds, and flavors of the world as we celebrated International Day! Our community worked together to transform classrooms into vibrant displays representing different countries, giving students a chance to explore, learn, and engage in fun activities and games themed around each culture.
The cafeteria joined in on the celebration by serving a special international menu, allowing our families to taste traditional dishes from around the globe—a delicious highlight that everyone enjoyed!
To top off the day, we had captivating performances on stage that showcased music, dance, and singing from our focus countries. It was the perfect ending to a day filled with learning, excitement, and cultural appreciation. A big thank you to everyone—teachers, students, parents, and community members—who made this year’s International Day unforgettable. We look forward to next year’s celebration and the chance to explore even more of our world together!
This month, our school participated in a series of friendly competitions with another international school, giving our students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills and sportsmanship in various sports categories. From soccer to cross country, each game was filled with energy, teamwork, and plenty of memorable moments.
Beyond the scores and victories, the real win was in the learning experiences and the joy that filled every match. Students discovered new strategies, practiced teamwork under pressure, and gained valuable insights into what it means to play fair and celebrate each other’s successes.
A big thank you to our dedicated coaches, referees, and volunteers who made these events possible. Their support and encouragement helped our students grow not only as athletes but also as thoughtful and inclusive team members.
On October 31, our school was buzzing with excitement as students, staff, and parents came together to celebrate Halloween in true festive spirit. From Kindergarten to Grade 5, students enjoyed a range of activities that brought smiles, laughter, and a few playful scares to all.
The highlight of the day was the assortment of activities thoughtfully prepared for each grade. There were classic Halloween games and interactive crafts. The gym echoed with joy as students in colorful costumes moved from one activity to the next, gathering memories and treats along the way.
This event would not have been possible without our incredible Parent Network, who took the lead in organizing every detail. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a day filled with delightful surprises—from arranging delicious Halloween-themed treats to setting up creative games that every student could enjoy. Their dedication and hard work made this Halloween truly unforgettable, and we are deeply grateful to them for creating such a magical experience for our young learners.
The annual Halloween activities are always a highlight for ISF during October, and this year was no different. The spooky festivities started on October 11th, with Milena B. (G10) and her Lower School team holding a Halloween Movie Night for the primary children. Over 100 children watched Hotel Transylvania in the theater with their friends. The children were given snacks in a Halloween-inspired bag to munch on during the event. Overall, the young students had a frighteningly good time.
The middle school students joined in their event the very next day on Saturday. Ayan V. (G10) and his Activities team organized a Corn Maze outing. Even though the weather was rainy and cooler leading up to it, the day was dry and there was some fun in the mud. From 10:00-1:00 pm, the students explored the Maze by completing the stations along the way with their friends, playing in a pit full of corn kernels, and enjoying the festive food. It was a fun and memorable outing for the Middle Schoolers.
During the week of Halloween, Adya V. (G10) and her Outreach team collaborated with Ayan and the Activities team to hold various competitions amongst the community. The Pumpkin Carving Competition, the Spooky Hallways Door Decorating Contest, and the Costume Contest allowed for many to show off their creativity, while also filling the hallways with Halloween spirit. It was wonderful to see everyone participate in this experience.
A big thanks to the SLO® team, staff, and Parent Network, who gave up precious time and effort to allow the students to create a festive atmosphere and hold such wonderful events.

This month, our Grade 4 students attended biking school to learn essential road safety skills. While many students already know how to ride, this program focused on the rules of biking on the street, including road signals, hand signaling, and awareness. Through hands-on exercises, they gained confidence and practiced safe biking techniques, making it a fun and active learning experience.
We’re so proud of our students for their dedication to becoming responsible riders, and we thank the instructors, teachers, and parents for supporting this valuable lesson in road safety!
We were honored to be invited by the Turkish Consulate in Frankfurt to celebrate the 101st Anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic of Türkiye yesterday! It was a privilege to join the Consul General of Türkiye, esteemed members of the Consulate, ISF parents, and our school director in commemorating this special day. Wishing our warmest regards to our Turkish community on this memorable Republic Day!
During October, the Social Responsibility team held a charity raffle, ‘Make Him Bald’. Students and staff could buy raffle tickets to earn a chance to cut Mr. Siskar's long hair which he had been growing for 3.5 years. On the day of the haircut, the atmosphere was lively, as students who knew Mr. Siskar were excited to see his hair removed and maybe even be the one to do it. Faran from 5A was the one to cut it. A total of 260 Euros were raised for Doctors Without Borders and the 42 cm ponytail going to www.meinehaarespende.de. A very special thanks to Mr. Siskar, who made this whole thing possible.

We had an amazing day at the ISF University Fair, featuring 35 prestigious universities from around the world, including Canada, the USA, and Europe! Students engaged with university representatives and built valuable connections for their future. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!
Music in Primary Ages
Grades 2-4 did a composition project in October. They worked on writing their own music with three notes and three rhythms across 4 measures. There were some amazing results as students used literacy skills to express musical ideas using this highly specialized language. We plan to do another composition activity shortly after the New Year. We are preparing music for the Winter Concert while continuing to build our understanding of what we play and sing. The Primary Concert is currently scheduled for November 29 and we hope parents are able to join us for singing, boomwhackers, and ukuleles.
Music in Middle School
All classes are now preparing for the Winter Concert. The Winter Concert will be on Wednesday, December 18. The Music Production classes will have their music highlighted on the announcements at the start of school around the concert date. A few compositions will be highlighted during the concert between the Strings and Choral ensembles. Information was shared on the SDP about student concert attire that day. It is a special day for the students and we hope they are all able to dress in this special way to commemorate their work in these special settings. Most importantly, we hope the parents and students are able to share and enjoy the various expressions of music.
